Chess Size Guide - ChessSets.us

It's important to get the right size chess pieces for your board. This guide will help you choose which pieces to pair with which board.

Key measurements to consider:

  1. King’s Base Size
  2. Board Square Size

Guideline:

  • The King’s base should be about 75% of the square size.
    • Example: 1.5 inch square = 1.125 inch King’s base diameter.

What's Wrong:

  • King Too Large:
    Board looks crowded and untidy.

  • King Too Small:
Pieces look too small for the board.

What's Right:

  • The King should have some space in the square, and smaller pieces should look balanced.
